Chinese Linguist

I am back from my hiatus, trying to get back in the habit of blogging.

I started my course for chinese mandarin about seven weeks back and currently studying like crazy. It is a 63 week course and the curriculum is super fast. To give an idea for all the baby linguists out there, you go to class for about 6 hours a day not including the hour off for lunch. There is homework every day and usually 1-2 tests a week. There are also 1-2 vocab quizzes a week depending on how fast you go through the chapters. The teaching team you get sticks with you through the course, unless you get recycled or rocked. All the teachers you get are native speakers of the language, and most are civilians. I like all my teachers and I am enjoying learning my language so far. It is a lot of work to do though, so I have to keep my pace and not slack off for like the next 13 months =(

updates are most likely probably going to appear sometime in the near future! so don’t change the channel!

Is it helpful to have your own laptop while in A school and doing the course work? I’m debating getting one before I ship out.
